We are Republicans because...

  • We believe in keeping the government small.
    • We believe the Federal government should be constrained by the boundaries of the Constitution of the United States. The role of government is to provide for the people those critical functions that cannot be performed by individuals or private organizations, and the most effective, responsible and responsive government is that which governs least.
    • We believe the government must practice fiscal responsibility and that higher taxes lead to a dependence upon a large government. We believe social welfare programs do not help, but hurt individuals. We believe that lower tax rates across the board breed a stronger economy by keeping earned income in the hands of the worker and the business owner.
    • We believe in free enterprise. We believe in the privatization of most if not all sectors of our economy. We encourage the individual initiative that has brought opportunity, economic growth and prosperity to this nation.
  • We believe in liberty and the personal responsibilities that comes with that liberty
    • We believe in equal rights, equal justice and equal opportunity for all, regardless of race, creed, sex, age or disability.
    • We believe that the strength of our nation lies with the individual and that each person’s dignity, freedom, ability and responsibility must be honored.
    • We believe citizens will do what they feel is best with their money without government interference.
    • We believe citizens can be trusted to own firearms in order to hunt and defend their homes, themselves and their families if necessary.
    • We believe citizens can be trusted to say whatever they like, even if it isn’t politically correct and as long as it is not criminal slander or libel.
    • We believe in freedom of religion, not freedom from religion. We are tolerant of all religions but acknowledge that the United States is formed on Christian beliefs
    • We believe in our rights as property owners.
    • We believe in an individual’s responsibility for their own livelihood and without dependence upon public social welfare. We support and encourage private philanthropy.
    • We believe in the rule of law and believe laws should be made by the legislature and not by activist judges or by executive order or bureaucratic regulations.
    • We believe that Americans can be trusted with protecting the environment but also understand that our protection of the environment must not come at the cost of destroying our economy.
  • We believe in American Exceptionalism
    • We believe that the American republic is a one-of-a-kind occurrence and we must preserve our national strength and pride while working to extend peace, freedom and human rights throughout the world.
    • We believe that a large standing army is the best deterrent to violence in the world today.
    • We believe that we are at war with terrorists and those countries that support and harbor terrorists and we do not support the United Nations as it stands today.
    • We believe that as a sovereign nation we have the responsibility to control our borders and provide physical and economic security for citizens of the USA.
  • We believe in life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. We believe in:
    • a smaller, efficient government,
    • free enterprise,
    • free citizens, and
    • a safe and secure America.

"Free People, Free Markets: Principles of Liberty"

Learn more about the Constitution. Penn Pfiffner's course to be held at the at the Centennial Institute. Penn is a former State Representative for Colorado.

  • If your daughter or son or best friend asked you to articulate why you are proud to be an American, what would you say?
  • How well can you describe the fundamental philosophical, economic and political principles of freedom that our great country was founded on and that we rely upon today?
  • Why are these important questions?

Here are some excerpts from the course syllabus:

This course is designed for business and community leaders, college students and the general public as well. Too few of today's adults were taught the fundamentals of a free society. This course pulls together the basic principles of liberty and a free market, showing you why these cohesive fundamentals allow our society to work well. The course material springs from the great thinkers and achievers who have shaped America. The course makes the moral and philosophic case for free-market capitalism and develops the relationship between economic liberty and political liberty. You'll be introduced to the philosophy of the Austrian School of Economics and its connection to the founding ideas of the American experiment. Participants are awakened to their heritage of economic liberty. It will be more than worth your time.

This course should be required for every junior high school, high school and college student in America.
